Bucloc, Abra expands refo area

B

ucloc, Abra -- Two people's organizations of barangays Ducligan and Labaan here moved onto expanding their reforestation areas last August 1, 2013.

The Labaan-Sacuboan-Daldalao Farmers' Association (LASADA) and the Ducligan Farmers' Association (DIFA), the people's organizations that handled the CHARMP2 reforestation sub-projects in barangays Ducligan and Labaan, respectively; expanded their areas to cover another reforestation area of 50 hectares for each of the organizations.

"The people wouldn't be this proactive and industrious without the so-called 'Green Covenant' by the CHARMP2," said LASADA President Parinas Lomioan.

LASADA alone is maintaining 500, 000 seedlings in their nursery and had already outplanted 120, 000 assorted indigenous seedlings covering 55 hectares.

DIFA, on the other hand, is maintaining 80, 000 seedlings in their nursery and had already outplanted 110, 000 assorted indigenous seedlings covering 50 hectares.

There are 110 households in Labaan and 98 households in Ducligan that had benefitted in the project.//Marietta H. Ruperto
