18,000 pine tree seedlings planted at Tetep-an Norte, Sagada, MP

ighteen thousand pine tree seedlings were planted at the reforestation site of Powag, Tetep-an Norte, Sagada, Mountain Province.

Members of Badbadangan Organization Inc. and land owners did the reforestation activities in the barangay. Men, Women and youths were involved to fast track implementation of the sub-project. Strip brushing was the most difficult task which took thirty days because the reforestation site is very weedy. Planting of the pine tree seedlings follow after strip brushing. Strip brushing and planting started last June until this September even though the organization did not receive their second tranche.

The men did strip brushing, youths hauling and the women planting of the pine tree seedlings. These activities took four months due to the harvest season in the locality. At times where they do not go to the fields, they are at the site working and being monitored by the PO chairman, Mr. Albert Bagsingit. Cultural practices also in the area and rainy days contributed to the slow implementation. The remaining seedlings to be produced will be planted again after validation of pine tree seedlings.// Anggon Joy Bagto
